Then, go north all the way to another treasure chest - that one contains an Aero Spell. Then, simply head west, then go north collecting the Gold Needle en route and you'll run headlong into Bahamut. Bahamut is a pseudo-boss of sorts, because you can't defeat him and you're forced to run from the battle. He'll likely kill one of your characters outright no worries - that character will be revived shortly.
Hold the R and L buttons to run. When you do, you'll want to talk to Desch, who is in the Bahamut's nest. And like that, the five of you will jump from the peak and onto the world map on the other side. The Mini Spell that you acquire automatically from Desch is a necessity here. Since you're going to be traveling to Tozus, a city of small people, you'll need to cast Mini on all four of your characters. Yeah, our next destination is the gnomish town that's supposed to be around here.
This is why Mini is such a big deal, because Desch is right, we need to shrink down to enter. At least, you'll be get to put the power you got from the crystal to good use.
And being in the rear line would also be good. Really, trust me on this! Desch, you don't even go into most fights. You just stand around with your hands in your pockets or whatever. This is why everybody is a mage right now.
It's not strictly necessary to be, but it's a good idea. This is also why I made sure everybody was packing some spells. As far as the row advice, Sephy and Golbez are still in the front row because we're still actual size right now. Everyone is strictly back row once it's mini time.
There's something in these woods, before I head to the gnomish town. You can also see the mountains there. The Healing Copse is a nice little place if you need healing. There's also a tiny little man here. Now we know that the village is in the southern woods. This isn't super useful, since there are a lot of woods there and it sure can suck to be wandering around, shrunk down, looking for the village and fighting monsters.
The gnome here gives you a copy of Mini if you don't currently have one in your inventory. I grab one here for every character who can use White Magic. The gnome also has a different line if you do have a spare copy. A nice touch, I think. The other thing the Healing Copse is good for is, gasp, healing.
There are wellsprings to do everything you'd need to do the one on the left there is a revival spring. You probably won't be hanging around this area very often, but there you go. Now that I'm finished with the Healing Copse, I head to the woods. Since I know where the town is, I hold off on casting Mini until I'm almost there.
The game is nice enough to let you cast the spell on everyone simultaneously. This is good, since Jecht only has a couple of Level 2 MP. Everyone's in the back row, now. Mini leaves you with garbage as defence, so if you're in the front row and you take a hit, you're mulched. You can barely see Sephy's hat through the trees now. Make sure you rest at the inn to restore your MP before leaving.
Compare Tozus to other Maps. The name of the map, including both the general area and the specific floor or section; Limited maps are closed off at a certain point in the plot; temporary maps only appear during certain brief plot points; once you reach end game maps, you can no longer save or return to other areas. Miscellaneous helpful features of the area, such as healing springs and fat chocobos.

Rare weapons can only be found as treasure or won from monsters; unique weapons can only be found as treasure or purchased in hidden shops; ultimate weapons are uniquely powerful treasures; onion weapons are rare treasures of unmatched but narrow power.
The higher a weapon's power, the more damage physical attacks made with it deal; characters gain a bonus to power based on strength. A weapon's base accuracy; characters gain a bonus to accuracy based on agility and job level; note that the accuracy of arrows is ignored in favor of the bow's accuracy when using a bow and arrow combination. Some weapons offer a bonus to one or more statistics; certain weapons also offer a bonus to one or more element types, but this has no effect; for the curious, the elemental bonuses are shown on individual weapon pages.
The spell cast when this weapon is used as an item in combat; unlike items, weapons are not consumed when used to cast spells. The elemental nature of this weapon; targets that are weak to this element take double damage, while targets that resist this element take half damage; targets that absorb this element gain hit points equal to the usual damage dealt. Rare armors can only be found as treasure or won from monsters; unique armors can only be found as treasure; ultimate armors are uniquely powerful treasures; onion armors are rare treasures of unmatched but narrow power.
Makes sure your whole team is Mini'd. Then walk along the western edge of the forest. Just walk along the edge. Like I said, walk along the western edge, its near the middle or bottom.
